About NAMI Sheridan

Our Mission

The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) is the nation's largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives of the millions of American affected by mental health conditions.  NAMI National is the foundation for hundreds of NAMI State Organizations, NAMI Affiliates, and volunteer leaders who workin local communities throughout the United States to raise awareness about mental health and provide essential free education, advocacy and support group programs for those living with mental conditions and the loved ones who care for them.  NAMI works tirelessly to advocate for access to services, treatment, support and research to build a community of hope for those in need.

NAMI Sheridan is dedicated to supporting volunteer leaders as they raise awareness about mental health conditions and provide local education, support groups, and community education for those living with mental challenges and the loved ones who care for them.  NAMI Sheridan provides all services FREE OF CHARGE due to the generosity of the Sheridan community.

Educate

We offer free education programs that empower individuals and families with knowledge, connection, and support. Some classes, like our Peer-to-Peer groups, are led by trained peers with lived experience. Others, such as our rotating Education Series, feature professionals in the field sharing insights on mental health topics. Whether you're looking to better understand your own experience or support someone you care about, we’re here to provide trusted information in a welcoming environment.

Support

Everything we do starts with listening—because the people most affected by mental health challenges are the ones who best understand what needs to change. Our leadership is peer-driven, shaped by lived experience, and rooted in empathy. We lead by example: showing up, speaking out, and creating safe spaces where people feel heard, respected, and empowered.

Advocate

We stand up for the rights and dignity of people living with mental illness and their families. Whether it’s at the local level in Sheridan County or as part of statewide coalitions, NAMI Sheridan Wyoming advocates for better access to services, fair policies, and a more informed and supportive community. We believe every voice matters—and together, we can create lasting change.
